All-Purpose Roast and Steak Rub

All-Purpose Roast And Steak Rub

All-Purpose Roast and Steak Rub

Finding the perfect rub is a never ending quest - we are always looking for something different to add a little zest to our meals. While they are fun to find and play with, they are often disappointing and relegated to the pantry where they sit never to be used again. One afternoon while pondering what to put on my roast for the evening, I came up with this. I think you’ll like it – but you’ve got to use fresh ingredients to ensure the best flavor.

  • ⅓ C melted butter

  • 1 ½ t onion powder

  • 1 t kosher salt

  • 1 t freshly ground black pepper

  • 2 t freshly chopped rosemary

  • 2 t freshly chopped thyme

  • 1-2 garlic cloves minced

  1. Mix all ingredients together in a bowl and rub on the roast or steak before the butter hardens.

You can add some fresh oregano if you want a little Italian flare. The larger the roast, the more ingredients you will need, more will not disappoint.
