Standing Rib Roast

Holidays are filled with fun, family and food. Here is an easy way to prepare this delicious piece of beef. This recipe serves many, depending on the size of your roast and the appetite of family and friends. Plan on 4 to 5 pounds for every 8 to 10 guests. And remember, the leftovers are great!

  • 1 Moody’s 5 lb. standing rib roast

  • 1-2 T "easy seasoning" (directions below)

Easy Seasoning mix:

  • 1 C kosher salt

  • ¼ C fresh ground black pepper

  • ¼ C garlic powder

  1. Allow the tenderloin to come to room temperature for at least 1 hour.

  2. Pre-heat the oven to 375°F; rub roast with the easy seasoning.

  3. Place the roast in the pan rib side down and fatty side up.

  4. Roast for 1 hour. Turn off oven. Leave roast in the oven but do not open oven door for 3 hours.

  5. About 30 to 40 minutes before serving time, turn oven to 375°F and reheat the roast. Note: do not remove roast or re-open the oven door from the time the roast is put in the oven until the time it is ready to serve.

Wine pairing: A good Cabernet Sauvignon will do justice to this delightful meal.
Enjoy!
